At the Waters Edge

Another painting created from a sketch in my Norfolk sketchbook, this time from April 2000. That's one of the great things about sketchbooks, the material is timeless. It measures 28cm x 48cm (11"x 19") and was painted in oil on canvas paper. The original sketch was a watercolour.

WORKING FROM A SKETCHBOOK

This oil image, 'Fair Weather Clouds on Fallow Fields' was developed from a watercolour sketch in a sketchbook done in 1999. I decided to use it as the basis for a painting demonstration at a recent class to illustrate how to use sketchbooks and how to translate from one medium to another. The painting was two thirds complete at the demonstration and I liked it so much I decided to finish it later.
